A traditional Brazilian dish, the acai bowl (asian bowl) has already become world-famous and there is a reason for that! It is a delicious way to start our day, having it usually as a breakfast, it's absolutely healthy and easy to make!
The best part, apart from its taste, is that we can make our own acai bowl with the fruits and nuts that we prefer οr have in our house.
What is acai berry?
Acai is a tropical fruit (purple berry) that comes from acai palm trees in Brazil and is known as a superfood, as it has many antioxidants.
Surveys that have been done abroad over the last few years have shown that ash berries contain up to 20 times more flavonoids (antioxidant class) than any other fruit. It is a fatty fruit (like the olive tree) with a high content of fiber, protein and monounsaturated fatty acids.
All these health benefits acai offers, made me want to include it to my everyday dietary habits and acai-bowl is a delicious and easy way to make it!
What is an Asian bowl?
Acai bowl is a smoothie bowl that has acai berry as the basic ingredient. You can find acai in shops with organic products in freeze-dried powder, but also we may find acai pulp which will give our bowl the desired ice-cream texture.
- 1 tbsp of acai powder
- 1 frozen banana (have some riped bananas in the freezer cutted into pieces)
- 1 cup frozen berries (blueberries, cranberries, raspberries etc)
- ½ cup coconut milk (or coconut water)
Feel free to use whatever fresh fruit or nuts or seeds you like to top your acai bowl with. I used coconut flakes, cherries, cacao nibs and godji berries.
- Put the ingredients into a blender and mix well.
- Tranfer to a bowl and top with fresh fruits, coconut flakes and nuts.
There is no healthier and refreshing way to start your day and fulfill your need for something sweet during a hot summer afternoon. .
And yes, it's as delicious as it looks!.
