At the Mesolongi salt marshes, we collect our completely unprocessed fleur de sel, which keeps its natural moisture and semi-white grey colour.
It’s local name is “Afrina” and that name is used only for Mesolongis fleur de sel , since only there the appropriate climate and soil conditions are found. (shallow waters, minimum waves, winds with low intensity, no sea bottom inclination).
On the surface of the salt marshes, a thin crust of salt is created. Over time, the low inten-sity winds of the area, move that crust at the sides of the marches and there it is being sun dried. Then qualified artisans collect that crust only by hand using a very old and traditional technique, making sure the quality and purity of the salt remain intact.
We then add oregano, thyme, marjoram, peppermint and rosemary. The moisture in the crystals absorbs the aromas of the herbs, creating a sensational taste experience.
Our fleur de sel with herbs is ideal for raw food and salads and finishing of cooked dishes.
It's a totally unrefined natural product. It contains XNUMX necessary minerals, as opposed to refined salt that after chemical treatment has only two.
They are rich in sodium, healthy fats and contain natural antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. They are particularly rich in iron and vitamin A. It is said that regular consumption may help lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and various cancers.
Our olives are gathered by hand from organic olive trees, making sure we provide a premium greek product to our customers.
